Osiris cast a Pall onto the dragon's head and began to hack away at it.  It burned through the pall, however, and charged him down, roaring and snapping.  Osiris saw that it still had Keriah's arrow stuck in its eye as he ran backwards across the cavern.  The dragon lunged at him, mouth open, trying to get a bite.  Osiris lept aside, grabbing the arrow and forcing it in as deep as it would go.  The dragon screamed in rage, knocking Osiris with its wing and sending him flying back towards the entrance of the cavern.

"Keiko, catch me!"

The tiny fairy had no hope of catching Osiris with any grace.  However, when Osiris hit her, she exploded, flinging him forward onto his stomach.  It was better than hitting the wall, wasn't it, he thought bitterly to himself.  He sat up as the dragon prepared to charge the group down.

"ya know, if this is anything like in a video game, there ought to be a big throbbing lump somewhere with a bandage x-ed over it." said Nero. this was, of course, his only experience fighting something that people supposed to be menacing. "Or we could break a deal with the dragon, where we agree not to hurt it, if we are allowed to pass simply by pretend-defeating it. we'd be minutes away before anybody realizes it's still alive"

"Hm." Keri hid in the shadows, watching them fight.

"He probably has some voonerables somewhere." He grinned. Tin frowned.

"Voonerables?"

"Arr Ell pratchett joke." He nodded, then frowned at how chatspeak came out verbalized. Eww. He then thought. Thief...intuition. He thought he had read something about that. He asked Tin.

"You are now level five. you now have the intuition of a thief. you can now, basically, sense a creature's weak points by focusing on them long enough." Keri grinned. sounded fun. He perched on a stalagmite and closed one eye, holding out his thumb and watching the dragon. it changed color, its scales blue, its underbellies orange, its eyes red, and every time it opened its mouth, crimson.

"The more red, the more weak it is."

"Neat." He grinned. "Guys, aim for its eyes and its mouth. hitting the rest of it won't really matter." He pulled out his bow and cocked it back, shooting an arrow into one of the dragon's eyes. In the process, however, he unbalanced himself and fell backwards, hitting his head and dazing him.

The dragon didn't even notice the marbles as it unfurled its wings and fell gracefully to the ground. It landed silently on its talons, flapping its wings for stability and effect, and roared. The pillars around the edge of its vast chamber shook as it thrashed its tail on the ground. An instructional message appeared:
Defeat the Dragon King to escape this dungeon
Osiris gazed around the chamber, looking for cover, and then ran inside. The dragon's head shot forward and snapped at his heels as he dove behind a pillar. He turned and hacked at the dragon's head with his sword, landing two blows before the dragon retracted its head.
"You guys can join in anytime, you know!"
He put on his Dark Shield and dove for the next pillar moments before the first one exploded in a ball of white hot fire.

Nero, anxious to get it over with, shouted, "Eat marbles!" and sent a bucket of marbles to balance on the stalagmite directly under the dragon.  "I mean, eat marbles!"  He then sent forth a great many round bits of glass in the general direction of the dragon.  A few struck the beast, many littered the floor around it.

The doorway opened into, surprise, yet another dark cave.  Osiris kept the sword at the ready as he followed Thadius inside.
The door closed behind him with an ominous slam, and the cave was thrown into near total darkness (not really a problem for him, but still).  Keiko flew ahead, casting a dim purple light on the ground.  When she had flown so far ahead, a big black shadow leaped out from the ... shadows ... and swallowed the fairy whole.  It growled, turned on the group, and then exploded in a shower of purple sparks.

The dragon stirred at the flash of light, uncoiling its tail, flicking its tongue to taste the air.  Food... it thought.

Osiris was the first one to see it.
"Look!" he shouted, pointing up at a stalagtite ahead in a great dark chamber that had been briefly illuminated when Keiko had exploded.  In the flash, a stalactite had been illuminated, and hanging from the stalactite was the dragon.

"I guess not" Said Nero, "Well, I don't suppose that falls under the category of minor injury, and even if it did, I wasn't especially fond of him. Let's get going."

Thadius and a couple others thought that Nero was taking the situation of Bait's death lightly, but Nero knew otherwise. He just figured the situation was unpleasant because it would have been more in line with his name had Live-Bait been consumed by the dragon. Nero, thinking about the possible dangers of the situation asked for a little assistance, "Um, Thadius, lead the way!"

"In...deed." He led them into the room. However, the door didn't have a lock. It had a hole, about the size of a finger.

"Bait, stick your finger in there."

"I dun wanna."

"NOW."

Bait walked up sullenly, and put his finger in the hole. The door swung open.

"Yay!"

Bait exploded into small, burning, bait bits.

"Ewww."

"It seems we won't be seeing him anymore." Stepping over bits of corpse, he entered the room.

"Well, If we're going to kill a dragon, let's kill a dragon," Said Nero, "I can't see the sort of dragon that would have an obscure little door like this. It should be a cinch to kill it, and think of the rewards!" Nero straightened up his shoulders and gripped his staff. "One false move from the the beast, and a face from marbles!"

Osiris looked up from his spell book distractedly.
"I'm sorry, did you say something?"
As soon as he'd leveled, he pulled out his spell book and started reading up on Leech of Shadows.  It was a fairly straightforward spell; it just required a bit more mana to cast (and then it drained half of the enemy's endurqance and distributed it amongst the caster's team, how wicked was that) than Osiris was used to spending.
He brushed Keriah's arms off of him.
"Anyway, weren't we going through there to fight a dragon?"
He pulled out the sword he had taken from one of the demons he had fought back in the pit and hefted it.  A bit cumbersome, but it'll do, I suppose.
